Bothering Jesus

Have you ever felt like you were bothering someone?

You know, like let’s say you’re at the grocery store with one of your parents, and you kept asking for a toy you wanted. Maybe they said “don’t ask again for that… you have toys at home.” But maybe it was super hard to resist, and you kept asking for it. Your parent might get a little frustrated, right?

What about you? Have you ever been bothered before by something?

Well… today, in just a few minutes, I’m going to read a story from the Bible about Jesus. I wanted to share it with you.

In today’s story, Jesus is really pooped after a really long week. So he goes to a place where he doesn’t think anyone will find him. 

But… the towns around him heard where Jesus was, and they decided to follow him. Sick and injured people came, too, because they wanted Jesus to heal them. On top of it, they were really hungry. Really, really hungry and needed food.

Guess how many people came? Over 5,000!

Now I don’t know about you, but if I were so tired, and just tried to escape everything, I’d be pretty bothered by all these people showing up. Wouldn’t you?

Well… guess what? Jesus wasn’t bothered! In fact, he loved everyone so much, that he decided to do something incredible. He took just five loaves of bread and just a couple of fish, and through his power as God, managed to feed those thousands of people.

Isn’t that incredible?

In doing that, he showed that he wasn’t bothered. He was there for them when they needed him most. He wanted to spend even more time with them and have dinner with them.

So today, I want you to remember that you will never be bothering Jesus. He will never be bothered by you. You can pray every second, or pray every time you want to talk to him, and he will always be there for you. He always wants to spend time with you.

Let’s pray and then you can go to table time.

Dear Jesus,
You always welcome us.
We can pray every second of every day,
and you will never be bothered.
Thank you for loving us so much
that you will never stop listening.
